Title: What are the Top 10 Reasons to Switch to a Memory Foam or Latex
Mattress?

Author: Ben Hermsen

Article:
1) Space-Age Technology Visco-elastic memory foam is a direct
result of space-age technology. Developed during the 1960's for
NASA this product was used to cushion and deflect the tremendous
effects of gravitational pull experienced by our astronauts
during take off and re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. By way
of its great success with NASA, the foam began being used to
cushion, protect and comfort critically ill individuals in
hospital intensive care units. It also provided outstanding
healing benefits and comfort to bed ridden individuals in
hospital burn centers. As its fame grew, other industries began
using visco-elastic foam in car seats, cushions and a wide
variety of products. Soon customers, who experienced
visco-elastic foam in hospital beds and other sources, began
demanding this product for their own use in sleep products. And
the rest is history!

2) Comfort and Luxury Are you craving a comfortable and
luxurious sleeping experience? Memory foam will provide you with
the utmost support as well as the luxurious feel. Memory foam
molds to the shape of your body and provides support where you
need it. It is also encased in a soft-to-the-touch cover that's
also allergy resistant.

3) Dust Mite Resistant Beds and mattresses are a prime habitat
for dust mites that cause allergies. A typical innerspring
mattress may have anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million dust mites
inside of it! Memory foam and Latex foam are naturally resistant
and dust mites find it hard to create a habitat to survive in.
In fact, dust mites cannot feed at all on Latex so they will
never invade a Latex bed.

4) Great for Adjustable Power Beds The way foam beds can mold
and conform makes them a perfect match for an adjustable base.
Our memory foam beds are available with Split-Top options. A
split top gives you easy adjustability.

5) Health Benefits All of the properties of a foam mattress work
together to give you a more restful night's sleep. With better
sleep come innumerous health benefits, including: increased
productivity, less fatigue, less insomnia, better breathing
patterns while asleep, and less back pain.

6) Suitable For Every Sleep Position Whether you enjoy sleeping
on your back, stomach, or side Memory Foam and Latex Foam Beds
and Mattresses are right for you. Foam is designed to mold and
cradle every part of your body evenly which can allow you to get
in your most comfortable position.

7) Improve Back/Spine Alignment Foam can support each part of
the body evenly and individually. This can allow the spine to
stay in a neutral position. By individually supporting each part
of the body, foam can help reduce pressure points and help to
eliminate tossing and turning.

8) Hypo-Allergenic Foam mattresses are great for allergy
sufferers. Memory and Latex foam are allergy free and
hypoallergenic. Latex is a 100% natural material.

9) No More Mattress Flipping! Foam mattresses do not sag like
most innersprings and therefore do not require flipping or
rotating. Having to flip over a large mattress puts more strain
on you; every part of these mattresses is designed with you, the
consumer, in mind.

10) Innovative--Newest Technology in Mattresses Memory foam is
the latest in foam technology. Foam mattresses can provide the
best sleep systems modern technology has to offer.

Title: Kicked Out by your Old Lady, Turn to Truck Livin

Author: Steven Duvall

Article:
When times are tough on the home front--like if you've blown the
mortgage chest on a flat screen or "accidentally" made out with
her sister at a party--you may find yourself sans-domicile for
the first time ever. But don't take to a life of living in a
water heater box or posting up on your buddy's couch (or your
lady's sister's couch), scrounging for food and fighting
toothless vets. Instead, take to your truck. A gang of truck
accessories can build the peaceful pickup life for you.

It starts with all of your stuff out on the lawn. Or half of it,
anyway, thanks to the moo-moo-wearing yard sale scavenger next
door. You're down to just a handful of clothes, a busted
painting of dogs playing poker, and a gaggle of tools that
includes none of the ones you actually use. You've been
unceremoniously evicted from your happy home by the ball of
terror that is your enraged lady friend. And, while you may
admit fault decades down the line or next week after 3 or 20
beers, you can't help but angrily split the scene spewing your
foulest French.

Let "Survivor: Down by the River" begin. It may seem like a dire
situation at first, but, with your pickup and a few choice truck
accessories, you can actually thrive on your own. Sure, there's
no surprisingly hot chicks littered with mite bites--and
certainly no million-dollar prize for lasting longest--but just
getting by is what truck dwelling is all about. Remember: you
only need to outlast your lady's indignation, give or take a few
extra weeks fueled by her unsavory friends that massively
overestimate their own hotness.

First, you need a place to sleep besides the driver's seat in
full recline. For this, a combo of a truck tent and a custom
truck bed mattress is your best bet. The truck tent keeps rain,
snow and high-perched birds from ruining your makeshift
dwelling. Meanwhile, the custom mattress, which has specialized
shaping to account for your wheel wells, provides plenty of
comfort. It's not quite as nice as a pillow-top or your old
waterbed from the bachelor pad days, but it's better than
sleeping on a wad of jeans and bare sheet metal. Heck, the tent
and mattress setup are probably good enough to entertain a
guest, if you catch my drift.

Next, you need some good seat covers. When you consider that the
front and rear seats of your truck become your living room,
dining room and changing room while pickup dwelling, it's
hopefully obvious why you need covers. If not, I'll spell it out
to you: you won't be showering very often, the food you'll be
grubbing is pretty harsh on the plumbing, and changing in the
back seat presents too many chances for skin-to-upholstery
contact that could ruin your truck forever.

You'll also need a kitchen--especially if you're beginning to
like life without rent to pay or the feel of plopping in the
bushes. The perfect solution: a hitch-mounted barbecue. It's a
full-on propane grille, complete with a tank holster, a pivoting
arm and a temp gauge, meaning you can enjoy riverside burgers
and occasionally dry your clothes.

When it's all over, and you can reclaim your throne as king of
the house, don't feel like all of your truck accessories are now
a waste. You can still take the lil' lady camping with all of
your newfound gear, once the crimson in her face subsides a bit.
Or, if she's not down with a little taste of the pickup autonomy
you enjoyed during your exile, you can always see if her sister
is.

Title: Bedding linen is one of the most important aspects of a great
night's sleep

Author: Daryl Plaza

Article:
<b>Bedding linen is one of the most important aspects of a great
night's sleep </b>

One of the first aspects of bedding that should not be
overlooked is the bedding linen. Good-quality bed sheets will
give you the comfortable sleep that you deserve. Most of the
time people will plan their bedding by starting with a comforter
or duvet which is not totally wrong as they are elements that
are very important also but the fabric of the bedding linen that
will touch your skin is what will give you the comfortable
sleep. Bed sheets should give you the feel of elegance. With the
evolution of today's mattress styles bedding sets are made to
fit pillow top and feather top mattresses. With new modern
bedroom designs today's bed sheets have developed into high
quality linens that will satisfy the needs of just about anyone,
especially with the selection that manufactures offer. If you
have a 17 or 18-inch mattress the modern bedding sets will have
you covered and you won't have to worry about finding bedding
linen that will fit it. At one time you could only buy bed
sheets with elastic ends so you could probably fit the mattress.
With modern bed sheets you can find bedding linen in several
sizes that is designed to fit today's mattress styles and sizes
perfectly.

<b>What to look for in quality bed sheets</b>

Bedsheets not only benefit from the thread count of the bedding
linen but also the type of fiber in the quality of what the
material it is made of. this will play a very significant role
in the making of your bedding set. The first thing in choosing
the right bedding linen for you is to decide on the type and
quality level that you would like for your bedding linen.
Comforters, duvets and all your bed sheets will usually come in
silk, pima cotton or the best one is Egyptian cotton. If you are
purchasing bedding linen your best decision would be to choose a
linen that is 100% cotton. Using a single ply fiber with the
longest fiber you can find, try and get 2 inch fiber that witch
would be your best choice. Silk is one of the best material
fibers for smoothness, drape and softness. The downside is the
pure silk is very fragile and hard on cleaning. The alternative
would be to blend with another material like Egyptian cotton
that will give the material more strength. If you are looking
for a material that is high quality reasonably priced and at all
around best fiber to have it would be cotton-bedding linens
witchl usually include a bedskirt, comforters, pillowcases and
duvet covers and will range in price depending on what you are
looking for. The least expensive bedding linens are usually a
polyester/cotton blend right up to the more expensive
high-quality Egyptian cotton. With a larger selection of styles
and colors in different material patterns you will be able to
find just about any design that will suit your bedrooms the
decor.

<b>Bedding linen ideas and benefits for your bedroom décor</b>

If you are looking to create and transform your bedroom into a
fresh new look and appeal the best and easiest place to start is
with new bedding linens. The more popular colors are solid
colors as they can blend into the bedroom decor easier than
multiple patterned fabrics. Bedding manufactures can offer you a
tremendous variety of different blends of fabrics and different
styles to fit anyone's budget ranging from duvets and comforters
to chenille bedspreads and different bed quilts. Bedroom bedding
plans should always start with a budget and choose the bedding
set that best suits your needs. Bedding merchants will offer you
a variety of latest trends that will enhance or even update your
bedroom decor

Title: GO CRUISING IN A LARGE, ROOMY, CATALINA SAIL BOAT

Author: dannyboy kelly

Article:
If you want a sloop-rigged sail boat, the Catalina sail boat
offers you several advantages. Long considered a general-purpose
or "trailer boat," the Catalina sail boat, is a popular
American-made classic. In fact, the classic Catalina designs
have made their way proudly into the American Sailboat Hall of
Fame. The Catalina sail boat is a keel or centerboard sail boat.
It holds its own with the best of American 30-foot cruising
yachts. What makes the Catalina sail boat so popular? Several
things sway buyers to take home these classic-lined cruisers.
Foremost is its adaptability. The Catalina can be used as a
daytripper but also fits several people in its cabin for longer
off-shore and long-distance voyages. The Catalina sail boat is
more than adept at taking you, your crew and passengers along
the shore and across the bay; on picnics and on voyages. Its
structure of a full fiberglass hull lining, large primary winch
and two secondary winches, stainless steel mooring cleats,
stainless steel binnacle compasses lined anchor lockers, fin or
wing lead keels, fully batten mains with Dutchman Flaking
systems, ball bearing blocks and complete engine instrumentation
adds to its popularity. These features, being included as a
standard features for many of the models of the Catalina sail
boat. The interior appeals to buyers in a number of ways. It is
designed on most crafts to supply lots of room. People can sleep
easily in and on a Catalina sail boat. Although these
sloop-rigged sail boats vary in length from eight to 47 feet,
all are designed with a large cabin interior. In addition, the
interior is made of real wood, ash or teak. It thus is more
easily repaired than stained pseudo-wood or mystery wood
materials. Door frames are just one element of this all wood
interior puzzle. The Catalina sail boat is also about comfort to
its occupants. Water heaters with the capacity to ensure 11 to
20 gallons of hot water are a warming feature, handy when you
have a family's needs to attend. It is also why the Catalina has
included large refrigerators, ample ovens, double stainless
steel sinks, window shades, real shower stalls, and mattress
with innersprings to supply support and comfort. These are
usually included as standard features not for additional costs.
Plenty of storage is another feature of the Catalina sail boat.
It has 14 built in drawers to safely store gear and any thing
else away. In some cruisers, there is only one drawer to satisfy
this purpose. One final factor consistently makes the Catalina a
popular choice - its resale value. According to many owners and
retailers, the Catalina sail boat offers the best resale value
of any American sail boat.

Title: Spoil Yourself With An Adjustable Bed - Part 1

Author: Barbara Thorp

Article:
Sleeping and lying down is the only time in which complete
relaxation were experienced by the body. We all know that pain
and aching are lessened in the muscles, ligaments and the spine.
Moreover, anyone suffering from a back injury or chronic pain
needs to have good quality, comfortable sleep in order to help
in the healing process and to ease discomfort.

Adjustable beds are not the extravagance they once used to be.
This are not only for the aged and infirm either. Adjustable
beds are for you and me. I know, because I have one. I have had
an adjustable bed for three years and it was the best investment
I ever made. If you seriously want a good nights sleep then go
online, search for information at ElectricAdjustableBeds.com.au
and see what you are missing. OzFreeOnline.com is a fantastic
site where among the thousands of <a
href="http://classifieds.ozfreeonline.com"
target="_blank">Classifieds</a> you are sure to find lots of
information on adjustable beds and many other interesting
appliances to ease pain and discomfort.

My adjustable bed is my special retreat where I spend time
reflecting, sharing time with my loved one, reading a good book,
and even watching the occasional DVD and TV. I put a stop to the
frustrating battle with an unmanageable stack of pillows that
would linger longer, and put an end to my sore neck and lower
back pain. My adjustable bed was so successful, that I began to
notice reduced tension, strain, soreness. I really achieved a
quality nights sleep; something, which had eluded me for years.

Best of all, my adjustable bed was an affordable luxury, and I
am convinced that it is a piece of furniture that everyone
deserves to own.

How does an adjustable bed work

Adjustable beds, sometimes referred to as the semi-fowler or
(foetal position bed), can be altered to many varied positions.
Sleeping slightly inclined gives comfort to many people with
back problems. With the upper body slightly elevated and
additional support to the knees at a slight angle, this position
eases some stress off the lower back. It provides support to the
spinal curves and lightens the pressure over the entire body.

Benefits of an adjustable bed

At the touch of a button, an adjustable bed can be transformed
into many relaxing and comfortable positions, which will support
your head, neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, hips, thighs,
legs, and feet. Your muscles shall relax and local blood
circulation in your legs is unimpaired and may be increased by
simply elevating your legs with the tap of a finger on your hand
control.

Your body's weight is comfortably distributed so you are able to
breathe easily. The relaxing contoured positions you are able to
assume allow you to remain on your back all night long. A site
called OzFreeOnline.com, with their classifieds secion has some
interesting information on adjustable beds. This site has
thousands of free classifieds with photos and unlimited
assistance about adjustable beds and many other types of beds
and mattresses.

To relax and sleep in the most comfortable position of all, (the
semi-fowler or foetal position), just touch a button and adjust
yourself to contour into shape. Many people told researchers
that they slept in recliner lounges in this position before they
got their adjustable bed because it was actually more
comfortable than their ordinary 'flat' bed.

Your adjustable bed will provide comfortable sleeping in a
slightly inclined position compared to lying flat on your
regular flat mattress. There are many back conditions, which can
be eased up to give more relief to people in the following
situations.

Spinal stenosis - Most people with this back problem find more
comfort by bending forward rather than standing upright.
Unfortunately, flat mattresses provide the least comfort
compared to sleeping inclined on an adjustable bed.

Degenerative spondylolisthesis - An adjustable bed will reduce
the pain and discomfort in the lower back and provide
comfortable and restful sleep during the night.

Osteoarthritis - This back impediment is accompanied by pain,
stiffness and aching. An adjustable bed offers better support by
lessening density and compression in the joints.

Back surgery - Patients agreed that they felt more comfort using
an adjustable bed in contrast to a flat mattress following lower
back surgery.

Title: Restless Leg Syndrome

Author: Ben Hermsen

Article:
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), or Periodic Limb Movement Disorder,
is a neurological disorder that is fairly common but often
unrecognized or misdiagnosed and is characterized by
uncomfortable sensations in the legs, which are worse during
periods of inactivity, resting or while sitting or lying down.
The condition is not dangerous or life-threatening and does not
indicate a serious disorder; however, it is uncomfortable and
can disrupt sleep. The condition most commonly occurs among
older people and pregnant women.

RLS causes an individual to have irritating sensations in the
limbs, primarily the legs, which are very distracting and
uncomfortable, but usually not painful. Patients describe the
sensations as having itchy, "creepy-crawly" or twitchy legs. The
condition creates a need for movement of the affected limb for
temporary relief. Restless leg syndrome was described as early
as the 16th century but was not studied until the 1940s. The
exact cause of the problem is still unknown. RLS is included in
the sleep disorders because it causes periodic limb movements
and feelings of restlessness during the night. RLS symptoms
increase during times when a person is resting or sleeping. A
RLS sufferer may be partially or fully aroused from sleep from 5
to 50 times per hour. Even if the individual is not awakened by
the limb movements, this creates very unhealthy, disjointed
sleep and leads to fatigue during waking hours.

The main characteristics of RLS include * Difficulty sleeping *
Persistent leg movements during sleep hours. Symptoms occur most
frequently during the evening or early part of the night *
Irresistible urge to move the legs * Abnormal sensation in the
legs, occasionally, feet, thighs, arms, which entail creeping,
burning, tingling, cramping, aching, pulling or crawling
sensations within the affected extremities * Sensations or
discomfort (not pain, not cramps) are relieved by movement of
the legs * May occur during the day * Worse when lying down and
may be temporarily diminished by voluntary movements of the
affected limb

These sensations have the following features: * Occur most
frequently during periods of inactivity, such as while resting,
sitting quietly or when attempting to fall asleep. * Are
temporarily relieved by movement of the limb. * Can occur during
the day, causing the individual to pace or move the legs
excessively. * Cause involuntary jerking or twitching of the
limbs during sleep. * Cause excessive daytime fatigue or
sleepiness caused by sleep disturbances in the night, as well as
insomnia.

Mild RLS sufferers may feel relief from their symptoms by: *
Exercising more frequently, as moving the legs usually relieves
the discomfort. * Eating a healthy diet and getting enough Folic
Acid, Calcium, Iron, and essential vitamins. * Reducing the
amount of stress in their lifestyle. Popular relaxation methods
include exercise, hobbies, yoga, biofeedback, and meditation. *
Relieving physical symptoms using cold packs, massage,
acupressure, stretching, baths, or walking. * Avoiding alcohol
and caffeine-containing items like coffee, tea, soda, and
chocolate, especially later in the day. * Maintaining a healthy
sleep routine - sleeping in a quiet, comfortable room, elevating
the limbs with an adjustable mattress, and going to bed and
waking at the same times each day.

Title: Poor Sleep Affecting Job Performance, the Mattress Really Does
Matter

Author: Ben Hermsen

Article:
Employees are paying a high price for too little sleep when it
comes to work productivity. Individuals experience an alarming
decline in quality of work, poor judgment and trouble retaining
information as the top work-related consequences from lack of
sleep. According to the Better Sleep Council (BSC) 2007 Better
Sleep Month survey, 44 percent said they were likely to be in an
unpleasant or unfriendly mood-- all bad news for employers,
employees and customers.

You cannot accomplish more if you spend less time sleeping. In
fact, sleep deprivation impacts your level of alertness, your
productivity and your ability to socially interact with
colleagues.

Sleep deprivation impairs your quality and accuracy of work,
clear thinking or judgment and memory of important details.
Companies would be more productive and offices would be happier
places if employees got more of the sleep they need. If you are
looking to improve your daily work performance, you could
benefit by improving the quality of your sleep.

Tired employees often turn to quick-fix performance enhancers to
remedy their sleep deficiency problem, including: * Drinking
coffee or other caffeinated drinks * Taking a nap * Going
outside for fresh air

Few are willing to make the commitment to get more sleep in
order to feel more awake and productive at work. It can be
simple to make noticeable improvements in your performance.

Mattress Matters Many people are losing sleep on mattresses that
may no longer provide optimum comfort. For a good night's sleep
it is recommended that you evaluate your mattress (especially an
inner spring mattress) every five to seven years for comfort and
support and replace if necessary. Many people are sleeping on
mattresses that are five years old or older, with some even on
mattresses eight years old or older. Traditional inner spring
mattresses are not designed to withstand that many years of use.
However, if you are sleeping on a latex mattress or memory foam
mattress, you can sleep comfortably for 15-20 years and
sometimes longer.

The quality of sleep is directly affected by the age of your
mattress. In fact, the study showed new mattresses provided
immediate and sustained benefits in sleep comfort and quality
plus reduced back pain. For the average person, better sleep
quality can be as simple as a new bed.

Five Tips to Improve Sleep and Work Productivity A new mattress
significantly impacts the quality of your sleep; further
suggesting that consumers should regularly evaluate their
mattresses for sufficient comfort and support. Here are five
tips to improve sleep and work productivity:

1.) Pay your sleep debt. Getting even 30 minutes less sleep than
your body needs can lead to accumulated sleep debt, which has
both short- and long-term consequences for health, mood and
performance, both on and off the job. It's important to schedule
8 hours of sleep each night (7.5 to 8.5 is optimal) and maintain
a regular sleep and wake schedule, even on the weekend.

2.) Evaluate mattress performance. Though your mattress may not
show physical signs of wear, it loses comfort and support over
the years. It's important to evaluate your mattress every five
to seven years to ensure it still provides optimal comfort and
support. The age of a mattress directly impacts the quality of
sleep.

3.) Bedroom business. Use your bedroom for sleep and sex only.
The bedroom should be an uncluttered environment that is
relaxing, comfortable and conducive to sleep and relaxation.
Keep work, computers and televisions out of the bedroom!

4.) Kick the caffeine habit. Research shows that caffeine
interferes with getting a restful night's sleep and waking
refreshed in the morning. Avoid caffeine close to bedtime.

5.) Make the investment. You spend one-third of your life in
bed. Be sure to invest in the best quality and most comfortable
mattress you can afford to ensure a great night's rest for a
healthier, happier and more productive you.

Title: The Chinese Called it Pai Hua, or The Driven Out

Author: Jean Pfaelzer

Article:
At nine o'clock on the morning of November 3, 1885, steam
whistles blew at the foundries and mills across Tacoma, to
announce the start of the purge of all the Chinese people from
the town. Saloons closed and police stood by as five hundred
men, brandishing clubs and pistols, went from house to house in
the downtown Chinese quarter and through the Chinese tenements
along the city's wharf. Sensing the storm ahead, earlier in the
week, about five hundred Chinese people had fled from Tacoma.
Now the rest were given four hours to be ready to leave. They
desperately stuffed years of life into sacks, shawls, and
baskets hung from shoulder poles -- bedding, clothing, pots,
some food. At midday, the mob began to drag Chinese laborers
from their homes, pillage their laundries, and throw their
furniture into the streets. Chinese merchants pleaded with the
mayor and the sheriff for an extra twenty-four hours to pack up
their shops.

Early on that cold Tuesday afternoon, armed vigilantes corralled
two hundred Chinese men and women at the docks. The governor of
the Washington Territory, Watson C. Squire, ignored telegrams
from Chinese across the Pacific Northwest urging him to
intervene. The mayor and the sheriff hid out at city hall as the
mob marched the Chinese through heavy rain to a muddy railroad
crossing nine miles from town. The merchants' wives, unable to
walk on their tiny bound feet, were tossed into wagons.

Lake View Junction was a stop on the Northern Pacific Railroad,
which had been built by Chinese laborers. A few of the evicted
Chinese found damp shelter in abandoned storage sheds, in
stables, or inside the small station house. Most huddled
outside. During the cold and rainy night, two or three trains
stopped at the station. People with cash paid six dollars to
board the overnight train to Portland, Oregon. Others crammed
onto a passing freight train. The rest began the hundred-mile
trek south to the Chinatown in Portland, where they hoped to
find sanctuary in a community that had just refused the town's
orders to leave. For days they were seen following the tracks
south. Others fled the country for Canada.

Two days later, Tacoma's Chinatown was destroyed by fire.

Lum May

Territory of Washington County of King June 3, 1886

Lum May being duly sworn on his oath said:

I was born in Canton, China, and am a subject of the Chinese
Empire. I am aged about 51 years. Have been in America about
eleven years and have been doing business in Tacoma for ten
years. My business there was that of keeping dry goods,
provisions, medicines and general merchandize store.

On the third day of November I resided with my family in Tacoma
on the corner of Railroad Street some little distance from
Chinatown. At that time I would say there were eight hundred or
nine hundred Chinese persons in and about Tacoma who . . . were
forcibly expelled by the white people of Tacoma. Twenty days
previously to the 3rd of November, a committee of white persons
waited upon the Chinese at their residences and ordered them to
leave the city before the 3rd of November. I do not know the
names of [the] white persons but would recognize their faces.
The Committee consisted of 15 or 20 persons . . . who notified
the Chinese to leave.

I asked General Sprague and other citizens for protection for
myself and the Chinese people. The General said he would see and
do what he could. All the Chinese after receiving notice to
leave were frightened lest their houses should be blown up and
destroyed. A rumour to that effect was in circulation. Many of
them shut up their houses and tried to keep on the look out.

About half past 9 o'clock in the morning of November 3, 1885, a
large crowd of citizens of Tacoma marched down to Chinatown and
told all the Chinese that the whole Chinese population of Tacoma
must leave town by half past one o'clock in the afternoon of
that day. There must have been in the neighborhood of 1000
people in the crowd of white people though I cannot tell how
many. They went to all the Chinese houses and establishments and
notified the Chinese to leave. Where the doors were locked they
broke forcibly into the houses smashing in doors and breaking in
windows. Some of the crowd was armed with pistols, some with
clubs. They acted in a rude boisterous and threatening manner,
dragging and kicking the Chinese out of their houses.

My wife refused to go and some of the white persons dragged her
out of the house. From the excitement, the fright and the losses
we sustained through the riot she lost her reason, and has ever
since been hopelessly insane. She threatens to kill people with
a hatchet or any other weapon she can get hold of. The outrages
I and my family suffered at the hands of the mob has utterly
ruined me. I make no claim, however, for my wife's insanity or
the anguish I have suffered. My wife was perfectly sane before
the riot.

I saw my countrymen marched out of Tacoma on November 3rd. They
presented a sad spectacle. Some had lost their trunks, some
their blankets, some were crying for their things.

Armed white men were behind the Chinese, on horseback sternly
urging them on. It was raining and blowing hard. On the 5th of
November all the Chinese houses situated on the wharf were burnt
down by incendiaries.

I sustained the following losses through the riot, to wit: 2
pieces silk crape trowsers female, 2 pieces black silk, 6 silk
handkerchiefs, 2 crape jackets, 10 blue cotton shirts, 8 pieces
black cotton trowsers, 12 Pairs Chinese Cotton Stockings, 2
Leather trunks (Chinese), wool great dress female, 4 flannel
jackets, 3 pairs embroidered shoes, 1 dressing case, 6 white
cotton shirts, 1 carpet bag, 2 white woolen blankets, 2 red
woolen bed covers, 1 feather mattress, 1 spring bed, 2 tables, 6
chairs, 2 stoves, 4 pictures and frames, 1 large mirror, 2
woolen trowsers (male) and solvent debtors (Chinaman), 1
business and good will, loss of perishable goods, total $45,532.

A few of the Chinese merchants I among them were suffered to
remain in Tacoma for two days in order to pack up our goods or
what was left of them. On the 5th of November, after the burning
of the Chinese houses on the wharf I left Tacoma for Victoria
where I have since resided . . . No Chinaman has been allowed to
reside in Tacoma since November 3rd.

Mayor Weisbach appeared to be one of the leaders of the mob on
the 3rd of November. I spoke to him and told him that Mr.
Sprague had said the Chinese had a right to stay and would be
protected. He answered me: "General Sprague has nothing to say.
If he says anything we will hang him or kick him. You get out of
here." I cried. He said I was a baby because I cried over the
loss of my property. He said, "I told you before you must go,
and I mean my word shall be kept good."

I desire to add to this that . . . it is ten years since we
began business there.

Lum May

Tacoma's Chinese residents did not go quietly. On November 5,
1885, aided by China's consul in San Francisco, they compelled
the U.S. attorney to arrest the mayor of Tacoma, the chief of
police, two councilmen, a probate court judge, and the president
of the YMCA. Then they filed seventeen civil claims against the
U.S. government, for a total of $103,365.

The Tacoma roundup was one of a hundred Chinese pogroms that
raged across the Pacific Northwest in the late nineteenth
century. In the winter of 1885-86, the raids and arson in
Chinatowns reached Portland, and the Chinese refugees from
Tacoma fled again -- some to San Francisco, some back to rural
hamlets in the Washington Territory closer to their old homes,
some to the East Coast, and some to work on plantations in the
South.

Word of the raids resounded in newspapers, in state capitals, in
the boardrooms of railroad companies and lumber mills, in
Congress, and across the Pacific Ocean. Defying protests from
both Republicans and Democrats, President Grover Cleveland
decided to accede to the refugees' demands for reparation, with
the hope that this might cause China to revive trade talks with
the United States. China's population of four hundred million
people, he believed, could purchase America out of its deep
economic depression, and China's government might open trade
routes for a nation come lately to foreign expansion.

Congress was ambivalent. It understood that whichever party
controlled California would likely control the House of
Representatives, the Senate, and the next presidency. The
firestorm of roundups in California was compelling evidence of
the sentiments in the golden state.

The violent raids were bannered in the press -- in the local
Tacoma Register and the Eureka Times-Telephone, and nationwide
in The New York Times and Harpers Weekly. Most Americans knew of
the Chinese purges in California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming,
Nevada, and Colorado. But before Congress complied with
Cleveland's request, it wanted to know the economic value of a
Chinese life.

In 1886, at the order of Congress, Governor Watson Squire
desperately sought to track down the two hundred Chinese men and
women who had been driven out of Tacoma so that they could bear
witness to the public violence done against them in his name.
Ultimately, he could locate only a few. Most were unable or
unwilling to be found.

Lum May had fled to Victoria, Canada. He and his wife had
legally entered the United States in 1874, before the Page Act
of 1875 banned the entry of almost all Chinese women and before
the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 -- the first immigration law
to exclude people based on their race -- banned the thousands of
immigrants who crisscrossed the Pacific each year from
reentering the United States.

Governor Squire found Lum May, but as a subject of the Chinese
Empire, he was barred from testifying in a U.S. court. Through
his written affidavit, Lum's is one of the Chinese voices that
speaks across the silent years since being Driven Out.

Title: Test Nap Before You Buy Your Mattress!

Author: Ben Hermsen

Article:
So you know it's time to buy a new mattress. You have a pretty
good idea of what you want in a bed, and you are almost ready to
buy. You probably have already done your homework and researched
your options. Now it's time to test-nap!

You wouldn't buy a car without test-driving it, and you likely
try on your clothes to make sure they fit before you take them
home. Why wouldn't you check to make sure the mattress you are
looking to purchase meets all your sleep and comfort needs?

Buying a mattress is a significant investment--one that deserves
your full research and attention. You will spend 1/3 of your
life in your bed, and looks and numbers aren't everything. A
dazzling and disorienting array of numbers, from firmness and
thickness to price, can help pry open the wallet of even the
most seasoned buyer.

The only way to make sure that you're buying the right mattress
for you (and not for the salesperson) is by giving it a
test-nap. And not just a casual sit lightly on the edge and
maybe press in the middle test, but a thorough, planned-out
examination.

Do your research You can find information on beds and mattresses
from reviews in publications like Consumer Reports, or you can
get it directly from the manufacturer's website. Learn about all
the features and options that come standard with the mattress
you have your eye on, and get familiar with more important specs
like latex versus viscoelastic (memory) foam and life span. If
you know what the mattress can provide for you and what its
limitations are, you won't settle for less than the best
mattress for you.

Test-nap on your time It's tempting to stop in and shop on a
lunch break or on your way to something else, but it's not a
great idea. Take your test-nap when you have plenty of time to
get all the information you need.

The goal of a test nap is to experience -- as closely as
possible -- the same type of sleeping conditions you will
experience with the mattress in your home. Make sure you curl up
in your favorite sleeping position with a pillow, and simply
relax. Let your body melt into the mattress, feel your arms and
legs relax their tension, and let your eyes close. Drift away
into that comfort zone you experience when you lay down for a
nap or for the night. Roll over as you might throughout the
night and test out a different position. If you read each night
before bed, take your favorite book along to your test-nap and
read a few chapters.

After you've had the opportunity to simulate your sleep
environment as you would have it at home, you will be far more
prepared to make the decision on which mattress is best for you.
Your time investment will pay off in the long run with the
increased comfort and sleep you will experience each night.

Title: The Best Bed Shopping Tips

Author: Dalvin Rumsey

Article:
Many people, who intend to purchase new furniture, or at least a
new bed for their homes, often face the problem of choosing the
best option to suit their needs. There are numerous ways of
getting up to date with the types and prices of the beds
available in the stores at the moment, but the most comfortable
ones are visiting a web site or a web directory that is
specialized in this sort of things as furniture.

If until some years ago the town library was the ideal place to
find out all the information on the bed products you were aiming
for, now the times have changed a lot. The enormous advances
regarding the internet have made people not want to waste any
more time walking the streets in a desperate effort to find the
perfect piece of furniture. The actual bed shops are not the
place to get informed anymore, as the best sources of free bed
data, good bed product knowledge can easily be found by means of
a web search. The truth is that these interior design sites are
a very rich source of guidance!

The results of such a search will be surprisingly pleasing, as
in the society we are living in nowadays, it is a sure thing
that each and every single person will find something to suit
his or her own taste. Bed shops are no exception to this rule as
they always struggle to attract new clients and to make them
come back again and again. The bed shop owners are all trying to
impress by style and variety, therefore, you cannot possibly
complain of lack of choices. From twin mattress bunk beds to
king air beds and from twin full loft bunk beds to full over
twin loft beds, these websites are surely very well replacing
the normal bed shops.

The online bed shops can easily make you change your mind about
the type of bed you wanted to buy in the first place, so do not
wonder why people end up with water bed inserts instead of
buying bunk bed frames!

Therefore, it is very important to stick to the plan and use the
correct bed searching tips! One should not rush when performing
a research on the web sites of the bed shops, especially when
you can benefit from some expert assistance on such items!

Title: Simple Meditation: Five Steps

Author: Jim Somchai

Article:
Meditation can be a way to release your mind from stress. It was
used in the far east of the world for thousands of years. Many
religions use this method to practice the mind. It also is the
mean to get closer to their spiritual leader. The method is also
believed to help people work more effectively either for
studying or in the real life work.

Why meditation is useful? This is used to clean your mind. The
body and mind are separated in the sense that the mind controls
the body. The clear mind can think more effectively since there
is no influence from outside environment. Concentration on the
present will make you free from all emotion especially negative
ones. It also reduces the negative feeling towards yourself and
others. It reduces your metabolism and promotes good health if
done regularly. Students can study better with only a few
minutes meditation daily. The same will happens to an adult who
work the whole day and need a rest. Your body needs a rest and
your mind needs that too. Meditation can be the best way to give
a relaxation to your mind.

Before you start meditation, we need to know your purpose of
doing this. You need to know what you want out of this process.
If you are clear on what you want, you will schedule yourself to
do this daily. Discipline is very important for all useful
procedure. Like physical muscle, your mind needs practice to
make it stronger. Therefore, make sure that you schedule some
time for doing this everyday. The steps to meditate if you are
the beginner include:

Step 1 Be in a comfortable position. Sit on your favorite chair
or pillow. The best material is a soft mattress. Most of
oriental ways request you to sit on the floor. Be prepared to
sit in the same position for a period of time. The right
meditation asks you to sacrifice moving while you feel some
fatigue in your legs or back. You need to decide how long you
want to meditate. You can start with twenty to thirty minutes a
session. Place a small clock in front of you so that you can
notice the time of your meditation. The longer you sit, the
better result you can enjoy.

Step 2 Sit straight. Make sure that your spine is vertical to
the floor. This will allow you to keep your spine in good shape
while you are sitting. Since the process of meditation can be
long, the good position will not hurt your spine in the long
run. Do not move if it is not totally necessary. Remember,
meditation is to let your mind think of only one thing. You can
not do that if your body is in movement.

Step 3 Close your eyes. This is to prevent the disturbance from
the environment. Also, closing the eyes allows you to
concentrate in the next step better. Some people will start to
see things when they close their way. This is normal to the
beginner. Notice that but do not be so agitated. Mostly what we
see is the event from the past and it comes back since we are
forcing our mind to focus. This will be difficult for the first
few times but it will be better as your ability to concentrate
is improved.

Step 4 Trace your breathing pattern. When you inhale, you can
count "one". When you exhale, you can count "two". Continue to
do this until you get into your focus. Count one and two
alternately along with your inhale and exhale. After doing this
for awhile, you will feel peace in the process. If you can
achieve that level, you will start to feel unexpectedly calm
happiness.

Step 5 When you can focus. You can move from counting your
breathing to what you want to concentrate. You can add your
visualization into this step. Remember to visualize only what
you want. This will attract your desired circumstances and
attributes according to the "law of attraction".

Meditation can be useful to anyone who want peace in his mind
and wants progress in the communication in yourself. If the
process is combined with visualization, it can attract the
situation to help you achieving your goals.

Title: Don't Let Insomnia Keep You From A Proper Night's Sleep

Author: Darrell Miller

Article:
Almost 6 million people rely on prescription or over the counter
drugs to aid in sleep every year. That is approximately one in
four people who suffer from insomnia on a consistent basis.
Those suffering from insomnia usually have two problems with
their sleeping habits. The problems sufferers have is either
getting to sleep or staying asleep. Also, consider the fact that
everyone in the nation does not follow the same sleeping
schedule daily or need the same amount of sleep. There are
natural supplements that can help restore proper sleep patterns.
If you can identify some key factors that may contribute to the
loss of sleep you are experiencing, a few changes in your habits
at night can do the trick and help you attain a good nights
sleep.

Nearly half of all diagnosed cases of insomnia have been linked
to physiological causes, treating those will solve the sleep
problem. For example, people with hypoglycemia, which is low
blood sugar, or yeast infections, may wake up in the night as a
result of changes in the blood caused by these conditions. For
hypoglycemic individuals, consumption of juice or fruit can
usually relieve the symptoms, but one should consult a health
care professional for other solutions because leaving diabetic
problems unchecked can lead to more serious health problems down
the road. Those suffering from yeast infections can change their
diet consuming less starchy and sugary foods.

Those who are deficient in vitamin B6, vitamin B3 (niacin),
magnesium, or l-tryptophan may be lacking in serotonin. By
changing your diet and eating foods high in these vitamins can
bring back the hormone levels individuals need for proper sleep.
If changes in diet aren't possible adding a vitamin supplement
can help one attain the nutrients needed for better sleep. A
health care professional will be able to do a blood test to tell
if serotonin is the problem and what supplements one could take
to address this issue.

A lack of calcium and magnesium may cause muscle tension, spasms
and cramps, abnormal heart rhythms, headaches, anxiousness,
nervousness and irritability. A good calcium and magnesium
supplement formulated at one to one ratio for example: 500mg
calcium/500mg magnesium per serving taken at bed time can help
one relax and sleep better.

Another possible problem is daily stress. Reducing the levels of
stress we experience during the day can be hard, and we are
still on the go in the evenings after a hard days work. Daily
stress can be a major source of anxiety and rob us of sleep. To
compensate for the hard days work, your evenings after work
should be your winding down time, take a nice long walk in the
park, reading a book or a hot bath is great for reducing stress
that has built up during the day.

Also, pay attention to your bedroom surroundings. Noise, light,
temperature, and weather changes can disturb your sleep. Comfort
levels can affect sleep as well; your pillow, mattress, bedding,
and night clothes can all affect your sleep. If you suspect that
one of these is the cause of your insomnia, try experimenting
with bedtime surroundings and see how your sleep is affected.

There are some herbs that can also be used to help get you to
sleep and keep you there. Start with reishi mushroom take 3
grams each day, hops steeped as tea may help as well. Look for
valerian root and take 400mg to 500mg 30min before bed time.
Skullcap and passion flower can also aid in attaining good rest.
Your local health food store should also have kava kava, which
is good for reducing stress and anxiety. Take kava kava right
when you get home and one before bed time. Kava kava is an herb
you do not want to take with MAO inhibitors (prescription drubs
for sleep and anxiety). Always consult your family doctor before
beginning herbal supplements if you are on medications.

Remember do not let insomnia get you down, fight back with
proper nutrition and exercise two to three times a week. Always
consult a health care professional if you think you have a sleep
problem and give some of the above listed herbs a try. You can
be well on your way to a better nights sleep in no time. Good
luck.

Title: Magnetic Therapy Can Treat Many Of The Symptoms Associated With
Fibromyalgia

Author: debbie shimadry

Article:
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread
musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and multiple tender points.
"Tender points" refers to tenderness that occurs in precise,
localized areas, particularly in the neck, spine, shoulders, and
hips. People with this syndrome may also experience sleep
disturbances, morning stiffness, irritable bowel syndrome,
anxiety, and other symptoms.

Although the cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, researchers have
several theories about causes or triggers of the disorder. Some
scientists believe that the syndrome may be caused by an injury
or trauma. This injury may affect the central nervous system.
Fibromyalgia may be associated with changes in muscle
metabolism, such as decreased blood flow, causing fatigue and
decreased strength. Others believe the syndrome may be triggered
by an infectious agent such as a virus in susceptible people,
but no such agent has been identified.

Signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia can vary, depending on
weather, stress, physical activity or even just the time of day.
Different people experience different signs and symptoms, but
common signs and symptoms include:

* Widespread pain. Fibromyalgia is characterized by pain in
specific areas of your body when pressure is applied. These
areas include the back of your head, upper back and neck, upper
chest, elbows, hips and knees. The pain generally persists for
months at a time and is often accompanied by stiffness. *
Fatigue and sleep disturbances. People with fibromyalgia often
wake up tired and un-refreshed even though they seem to get
plenty of sleep. Some studies suggest that this problem is the
result of a sleep disorder called alpha wave interrupted sleep
pattern, a condition in which deep sleep is frequently
interrupted by bursts of brain activity similar to wakefulness.
So people with fibromyalgia miss the deep restorative stage of
sleep (stage 4). Night time muscle spasms in your legs and
restless legs syndrome also may be associated with fibromyalgia.
* Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The constipation, diarrhoea,
abdominal pain and bloating associated with IBS are common in
people with fibromyalgia. * Chronic headaches and facial pain.
Many people who have fibromyalgia also have recurrent
tension-type headaches that may be related to tenderness in the
neck and shoulders. Facial pain is common, and as many as
one-third experience jaw pain -- temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
dysfunction. * Heightened sensitivity. It's common for people
with fibromyalgia to report being sensitive to odours, noises,
bright lights, touch and changes in weather. * Depression. As
many as one-third of people with fibromyalgia also experience
depression. * Numbness or tingling sensations in the hands and
feet. * Difficulty concentrating and mood changes. * Chest pain
or pelvic pain. * Irritable bladder. * Dry eyes, skin and mouth.
* Painful menstrual periods. * Dizziness. * Sensation of swollen
hands and feet.

Magnetic therapy treatments for fibromyalgia:

Fibromyalgia sufferers can experience any number of the symptoms
listed above, although it is not common to experience all of
them at once, it is common to suffer from several at one time,
as well as frequent flare ups of the remaining symptoms. This
makes fibromyalgia very difficult to treat. The majority of
people with fibromyalgia are prescribed medications to deal with
all of their different symptoms, this can lead a person taking a
very large amount of tablets each day. Many of the tablets will
have unwanted, or unhealthy side effects which have to be
counteracted with even more medication.

It's no wonder that hundreds of fibromyalgia sufferers are
turning to magnetic therapy. Without using any drugs or any side
effects healing magnets are proving to be a very efficient way
of managing the multiple symptoms of the disease.

The most effective treatment for fibromyalgia would be a
combination of magnetic therapy products for natural pain relief:

1. Drinking magnetic water. By using a water wand or magnetic
coaster to magnetise drinking water, the symptoms of IBS,
depression, mood swings and chronic fatigue can be greatly
reduced.

2. Wearing a super high strength magnetic bracelet (3,000
gauss/300 m tesla). The magnetic bracelet will also help to
reduce depression, mood swings and chronic fatigue as well as
improving the circulation and relieving hand pain. When used
in-conjunction with drinking magnetic water the results will be
much quicker.

3. Sleeping on a magnetic mattress pad. This is probably the
single most beneficial treatment for fibromyalgia. The sheer
strength of the magnetic field will relieve the painful symptoms
from all around the body. Multiple pain points can all be eased
with one device, plus the magnetic mattress when used
in-conjunction with a magnetic pillow pad will also improve
sleep, reduce migraine and tension headaches, reduce nerve pain
and tingling and stabilise hormone levels.

Exposure to magnetic therapy products must be an ongoing
treatment for those with fibromyalgia. The severity of the
disease process does not allow for many periods of remission, as
a result when the magnets are discontinued symptoms quickly
return. It is for this reason that it is advocated that
fibromyalgia sufferers sleep on a magnetic mattress pad on a
permanent basis.

Title: Ten Tips For a Healthy Back

Author: Lanny Schaffer, Ph.D

Article:
We don't often think about our backs until they start to hurt.
Back pain is one of the most common medical complaints in the
country. Following are ten tips to prevent and maintain a
healthy back:

1)LIFT HEAVY ITEMS CORRECTLY. Proper lifting technique involves
standing close to the object with your feet apart. Squat down
keeping the back in proper alignment (do not hunch or bend at
the waist). As you lift contract your abs and push with your
legs.

2)REMAIN FLEXIBLE. Tight hamstrings and a limited range of
motion in the trunk can increase your risk of back injury or
make existing back pain worse. Certain exercises such as yoga,
tai chi and Pilates may help back pain by increasing flexibility
and tension. Specific static stretch's may help too.

3)MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BODY BODYWEIGHT. Excess weight takes a toll
on the whole body and the back is no exception. Try carrying a
25 lb pack on your back and I think you'll understand how excess
weight can affect back pain and back injury.

4)SUPPORT THE LOWER BACK WHEN SITTING. Use a pillow or rolled
towel and slip it behind your lower back while sitting. Every 30
minutes remove the support to give you a change of position. If
you've been sitting for a long period of time, don't just jump
up and move. Get up slowly and walk around to give your back a
break.

5)STRENGTHEN THE ABDOMINAL, BACK AND CORE MUSCLES. First, you
need to strengthen the abs and lower back. Then you need to
strengthen the rest of the core The core is made up of many more
muscles than the abs and back. A strong core will protect your
back and make all your other activities easier to perform.

6)MAINTAIN GOOD POSTURE. Improper body alignment plays a strong
role in causing back pain due to the pressure it puts on the
discs and the strain it places on the muscles, joints and
ligaments. When you have good posture your body moves in
alignment and back pain and injury are reduced.

7)WARM-UP BEFORE ACTIVITY. Cold muscles and cold joints put any
muscle or joint at risk for injury. Take time to warm-up, and
you'll reduce the risk of back pain and injury.

8)STRENGTHEN THE LEG MUSCLES. Along with the core muscles, the
lower body plays an important role in assisting good posture and
body mechanics. Strong leg muscles will also take some of the
burden off your back when you are lifting heavy objects.

9)REDUCE STRESS. Stress increases tension in all our muscles
including the back. This tension can cause pain. Take some time
to do a little relaxation work to let that tension dissipate or
try a yoga, Pilates or tai chi class.

10)CHECK OUT YOUR MATTRESS. Because we spend a good time in bed
a good mattress is a good investment. An ill fitting mattress
most certainly can cause back pain

Back pain is indeed one of the most common medical conditions in
this country. The good news is that, in many cases, back pain
can be prevented. If you suffer from back pain, make it a point
to try each of these ten tips a day and soon your back pain will
show significant improvement.

Title: Allergies and Dust Mites: Get the facts about
Allergen-Impermeable Encasements

Author: Ben Anton

Article:
It is estimated that over 50 million Americans suffer from
allergies, and of that number approximately 30 million American
suffer from asthma. While there can be many different allergic
triggers that cause respiratory allergies and asthma, one such
allergic toxin naturally occurs in every bed and pillow, dust
mites. Not only do dust mites and their droppings cause symptoms
such as red itchy eyes, sinus irritation and breathing
difficulties, they can also lead to a full blown asthma attack,
even worse during the time your body is trying to rejuvenate
itself, while you sleep. It is well documented that a
disproportionate percentage of asthma attacks that result in
fatality occur during the hours we typically sleep, 12am to 6am.
This is a direct result of allergens, dust mites and their
droppings, and other micro toxins which build up over time in
our mattresses, pillows, box springs, and duvets.

It's a fact: the average person spends a third of their life
(220,000 hours) in bed. Coupled with the reality that the
average mattress can contain millions of dust mites and the
implications are worrisome - those millions of microscopic dust
mites can cause a little more than a few irritations over a
lifetime.

Here are a few more dust mite facts: * One dust mite will
produce 20 waste droppings in a single day and females can
produce upwards of 2000 fecal particles during their lifetime. *
Dust mite droppings are small enough to get lodged in a human
lung's bronchial tube, which results in asthma and skin
irritation. * Ten percent of the weight of a two-year-old pillow
can be attributed to deceased dust mites and their excretions. *
Since they do not drink water but instead absorb moisture thru
their shell, humid climates and seasons allow them to breed and
thrive at a much higher rate. * The average life span of a
female dust mite is ten weeks; during this time she will lay 60
to 100 eggs.

Many families assume that simply washing their sheets once a
week will solve the dust mite problem. This assumption is wrong
in that bleach and soaps do not kill dust mites because they
actually live in mattresses and pillows, not in the sheets or
pillowcases that are being washed.

One way to kill dust mites is to either freeze or heat up your
mattresses and pillows to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This has to be
done for over an hour and needs to be repeated frequently, as
dust mites reproduce in less than a five week span. However,
constantly burning and freezing a pillow or mattress is
dangerous and cumbersome, if not downright impossible (you'd
need access to a meat locker to freeze a king-size mattress).
Additionally, dust mites are not confined to your mattress or
pillow, as they can be transported via minor air currents
created by normal household activities.

Vacuuming your mattress or pillows also bears little effect, as
dust mites have the ability to climb deep within your
mattresses' fabric. Put simply, cleaning, washing or vacuuming
will not rid the average American household of dust mites and
their enormous amounts of dust mite excretions.

With over 50 million Americans suffering from allergies or
asthma, finding a sustainable method to combat the dust mite
problem has to become a priority for households across the
country.

Encasing your mattress and pillows in allergen-impermeable
mattress encasements and pillow covers is the most simple and
realistic way to protect your sleep. These encasements will trap
existing dust mites inside your mattress and pillows and protect
you from future dust mite infestations. It should be noted that
one should search for an allergen bedding product that has a
pore size of less than one micron to insure the highest level of
protection from these known micro toxins.

Allergen-impermeable mattress encasements and pillow covers are
relatively inexpensive and are widely available online and in
most large or chain stores. These bedding encasements offer
protection against dust mites, and help avoid allergy outbreaks
and asthma attacks.
